Meconopsis grandis is a perennial best suited to cooler, elevated climates where it will produce stunningly rich, blue poppy flowers in early summer.
The plant grows rosettes of irregularly toothed green foliage that have rusty coloured hairs.
The flowers are held aloft on tall thin stems and continue to grow after the flower fades and dies.
They are deciduous over winter and quite frost hardy, therefore making a very useful plant for these more difficult climates.
They will however also grow well in moderately warm Australian climates but do not like it too hot and humid.
