Glyceria maxima variegata is a rhizomatous perennial grass that thrives in damp or wet areas like riverbanks and prefers cooler climates.
It has long and narrow, strap-shaped green leaves that are striped with cream and occasionally pink.
It produces panicles of purple to green flowers in late summer.
NOTE: It is considered potentially invasive so only plant this in containers where it will make a bright contrast on patios or where you can place the container within a mixed border.
This is a good plant to stabilising muddy banks - though you'll need to keep it contained.
