Angelonia angustifolia Archangel is a perennial with a shrubby-like habit - though it can be treated as an annual in colder climates.
The long, thin leaves are dark green with toothed margins and they have a softly hairy surface.
The distinct flowers are borne in clusters at the ends of the reddish/brown stems.
The flowers of this plant are mauve to purple to pink and cerise with speckled throats that bear a resemblance to the Emu bush (Eremophilia).
These are very pretty flowers, perfect for informal and cottage gardens and especially mixed borders.
Angelonia's flowers provide a good burst of color all summer long and its ability to thrive in full heat and sun make it a very good choice for any planter combination or landscape design.
