The Chilean Potato Bush (Solanum crispum) is excellent at the rear of mixed borders and shrubberies, flowering from summer through to autumn with very attractive clusters of flowers.
The fragrant, star-shaped blooms are rich purpley/blue with prominent golden yellow stamen that mature to poisonous yellow fruits.
The foliage is mid green and finely pointed, often staying on the plant over winter in warmer climes
Good for covering sheltered walls, trellises or unsightly sheds, also goes well in larger containers.
A cultivar, 'Glasnevin', flowers most profusely, is RHS accredited and goes well with climbing Roses and Clematis.
