Curcuma zeodaria is a rhizomatous herbaceous, perennial plant in the Ginger family, producing clumps of erect pseudostems - sometimes referred to as Summer Tulips (which gives you a good idea of what they look like).
These long-lasting, red, pinky white, or greenish white cone-like inflorescences have tubular white and yellow flowers within.
Each pseudostem comprises around 5 leaves that are similar in look to banana leaves around 35cm long and 13cm wide.
It is often grown as an ornamental in tropical and semi-tropical gardens in semi shaded positions.
It is also sometimes grown commercially in the tropics of Asia as a source of spice and medicine.
They generally become dormant in winter.
