Rosa 'English Garden' was bred by David Austin in 1986 and registered as 'AUSbuff'. It is also known in some markets as 'Schloss Glucksburg'.
This neat, shrub rose with thorny stems produces very full, ruffled blooms in a colour that is described as apricot but in reality looks more like a pale yellowish toffee. It is quite delightful.
There is a light fragrance to the blooms which appear strongly in spring, smaller blooms in mid summer and strongly again in autumn.
Like many of David Austin's roses, this is not a glamour bloom, but one to evoke a deep appreciation of subtle beauty.
About David Austin Rose Group:
David Austin Roses are one of the most sought-after of the modern hybrid English Roses. They are distinguished by their very elegant cupped flowers of medium size which are often complex and ruffled, redolent of the Old Garden roses in looks.
The growth is upright but bushy and very vigorous, with shiny, pale green, disease-resistant leaves.
Most varieties within this group are strongly fragrant, adding to their attraction.
It is without doubt an absolutely splendid rose group in every respect, though they can become leggy (straggly) and grow rather tall in warmer climates.
