Nandina domestica Filamentosa or the Thread-Leafed Sacred Bamboo is a low growing variety of the popular garden plant, Sacred Bamboo, but it has fine curving fern-like foliage.
Growing to an attractive mound it bears clusters of pinky-white flowers in late spring time and as per the others of this species, the foliage turns to lovely autumn hues.
This plant can be rather slow in getting itself established but comers into its own, especially when planted alongside more bold foliage plants.
Although not a bamboo as such, Sacred Bamboo is an excellent addition for any oriental garden design.
