Ruellia macrantha or the Christmas Pride is an erect, soft-stemmed, shrubby perennial with narrow, lance-shaped, green and hairy leaves.
it produces very lovely, 8cms long, purply-pink trumpet shaped flowers on slender stalks overwinter and on into springtime.
This plant likes to have plenty of light but not too much direct or scorching sun, being well suited to the dappled light under tree canopies.
These re frost tender plants and shouldn't be left out in temperatures under 12c unless well protected.
