Salvia coahuilensis is herbaceous perennial native to the highlands of Mexico. It is a low growing evergreen shrub that flowers most prolifically through summer and into autumn. It is a lovely addition to cottage style borders and best appreciated when planted en masse with other salvias.
It has an open bushy appearance. The leaves are small, linear and olive green in colour and the inter-nodal distance between the leaves that is quite large.
The flowers are borne in pairs along the upper portion of the stems. The deep blue two lipped flowers have tiny hairs on the outside and emerge from green, purple tinged funnel shaped calyces.
This is a pretty salvia but hard to find
