Salvia pallida is an herbaceous perennial native to the moist meadows of Argentina. The spreading leaf base and tall flower spikes make an interesting choice at the back of herbaceous borders.
The leaves are mid-green, ovate and have a scalloped margin. The underside of the leaves are covered with tiny glands, these release a strong aroma when the leaves are crushed
The pale lavender blue two lipped flowers have green calyces and grow in whorls along the flower spike.
This is a Salvia that will tolerate and flower in dabbled shade. However it does best with a minimum of a half day of morning sun.
