Banksia grandis has been known to grow into a 10m tree in the wild, but when cvultivated in gardens it tends to be more scrub-like, growing to 1.5m and spreading up to 3m across.
It has the most unusual deep green leaves that are triangularly lobed along their length.
In spring it produces wonderful long cylindrical yellow flower spikes that make a striking splash of colour.
Originally from WA, this, like so many Banksia from that state does not like the humidity of the Eastern state and tends not to do so well over east.
