Hibiscus rosa-sinensis 'Apple Blossom' is a glossy-leaved, upright, evergreen shrub which produces a profusion of spectacular five petalled flowers in a soft shade of pale pink with a deep red throat.
The splayed back form of the petals only serves to emphasise the protruding, yellow/orange tipped anthers even more.
This particular cultivar is one of the more common shrubs in Australia, seen in thousands of private gardens and public parks.
They make excellent screens and will flower for many months of the year.
Although they are evergreen in averagely warm climates, they do thin out a bit in late winter and early spring when they go dormant, to burst back to life again in early summer.
Best kept trimmed, otherwise they will get away from you and become difficult to prune back, being able to grow quite large for a shrub.
