This strikingly un-attractive cactus has an erect and columnar body that tends to branch out as it ages. The skin is bluey-grey in colour, ribbed and markedly wrinkled to give it it's very distinctive 'Monstrous' look.
It also has spines, though these are quite sparse compared to other Cereus.
After around 6 years or so after planting it will produce white flowers in profusion that are around 15cms long. These mature to 12cms long fruits that are yellow to red in colour and edible.
This is a pant to make a statement with.
