Delosperma nubigenum or the ice Plant is a low growing, shrubby succulent that grows well in rockeries and desert gardens.
Being a succulent it is very drought tolerant and as such it is an excellent groundcover for areas that are not going to get much maintenance attention.
The delicate, satiny daisy like flowers make a showy display sometimes obscuring the dense mound of foliage underneath and in the process making a spectacular display of flowers. They are generally yellow though there are deeper orange varieties too.
The Ice Plant grows well in containers, flowers throughout spring and early and and is a top pick for xeriscaping.
