Lobelia laxiflora is an attractive herbaceous perennial or subshrub that grows to a mound shape and produces masses of orange/red and yellow tubular shaped flowers in late winter and springtime.
The flowers can be up to six centimetres long, being red at the base of the tube with a yellow throat which become quite conspicuous at the splayed mouth where the anthers protrude conspicuously.
It has long and narrow, mid green foliage that are finely toothed which hang gracefully, though it can require some support if it gets a bit leggy.
A pretty addition to larger borders or shubberies that provides colour in late winter and on into spring.
