Tillandsia aeranthos is an epiphytic bromeliad that has splayed out, grey/green leaves that are stemless.
A striking pink bract bud is produced on a stiff stem that then opens up to reveal mauve flowers that often droop downwards.
Best grown in the cleft of a tree branch, it can also be strapped to any solid object or even grown in bunches attached to open mesh wire. They look particularly good when that mesh is made into an orb so the foliage covers it completely, especially when they are in bloom. A wonderful hanging plant.
