Overview
Soil: This species can take quite heavy clay soils, as long as there's adequate moisture, though it prefers well drained loams.
Unlike other natives it can put up with reasonable amounts of phosphorous.
Maintenance: Mulch well in summer and keep up the water in dry conditions. A light pruning after flowering will promote bushy growth and a good flush of new flowers next year. Compost or other organic fertilisers will help keep it happy. Do not let it dry right out or it may just keel over and die.
Diseases: It can occasionally be susceptible to root pathogens like Phytophthora cinnamomi.
