Sobralia atropubescens is a naturally occurring hybrid orchid found in the 1930s in Ecuador in elevated, wetland forests.
As such they are able to handle a variety of temperatures, though humidity is preferred.
It has cane-like stems and single flowered inflorescence of rust and red, tubular snouted blooms that can appear at any time of the year.
Their dense shape and form is usual in the Orchidaceae family and combined with an on-going supply of flowers, makes it an attractive proposition for many gardens in warmer parts of Australia.
