Crinum mauritianum or the Swamp Lily comes from Mauritius where it grows in salt-water swamps.
Thought to be extinct in its habitat for 150 years, it was rediscovered in 1973 and is now thought to have been lost again.
Rosettes of long strap-shaped leaves shoot up from the underground bulb.
Scented white flowers with purple–red filaments and yellow anthers are carried on long stalks up to one metre high.
