Adiantum peruvianum or the Silver Dollar Fern is one of the most distinctive ferns, with slender black stems from which emerge a mass of delicately rounded pale green leaflets that are larger than other Maindenhair Ferns and are its main distinguishing feature in the species.
The stems emerge from underground rhizomes to unfold making a very good foliage display that fill well in shady plantings e.g. in amongst Bromeliads etc and around pools.
They go well indoors anywhere providing they are kept moist with a fine leaf spray every few days, bathrooms make an ideal location due to the humidity.
You can also grow them outdoors from Sydney and northwards providing they are kept out of cold draughts and strong direct light.
These are tropical plants but hardy to boot.
