Echinopsis oxygona is a small spherical cactus with densely clustered, globose or cylindrical, ribbed stems.
They will reach around 20cm in height and feature short, black spines along with pointy-leafed, white or lavender coloured flowers that are around 20cm across and gently fragrant.
The flowers are its main attraction being quite spectacular as they stand aloft on elongated tubes from the rest of the cactus. Flowering is generally mid-summer.
The only drawback is that the flowers only last for less than 24 hours, opening in late afternoon and fading by the middle of the next day.
These are very hardy cactus being able to handle down to -10c along with hot days too.
