Polyalthia longifolia or the False Ashoka has a symmetrical pyramidal form with weeping pendulous branches, rather like a Weeping Willow.
This tropical tree has leaves that are long, narrow, lanceolate shaped with wavy margins. They start out a copper colour turning lighter green then darker green as they age.
In spring, Polyalthia longifolia is covered with pretty, star-like pale cream to green flowers.
They can be seen in profusion in Townsville, Qld where they are planted as street trees.
