Buddleja davidii is a hardy, semi-evergreen shrub with greyish-green foliage and arching cane-like branches at the end of which appear flower spikes of various colours. White cultivars are also available.
For smaller gardens and containers, there are now many dwarf varieties coming onto the market, these grow to about 60cm high and wide. From summer through to autumn they produce masses of flowers.
Attractive to butterflies, these flowers resemble lilac and have a light fragrance.
New varieties include:
'High Five Purple' - honey scented pale purple to mauve flowers
'Blaze Pink' - deep pink / magenta flowers
