Ardisia crenata, or the Coral Berry is a shade loving, compact shrub which produces rich, leathery, dark green leaves with wavy margins.
They are contrasted by bright rings of red berries, which are produced from sprays of small white flowers in summer.
The berries last for many months and make a good contrast against the glossy, dark green foliage.
Ardisia crenata is considered an invasive weed in some areas of the US but it is still widely cultivated as an effective and attractive ornamental garden plant.
