An evergreen, low growing and sometimes scrambling shrub with olive-green, soft-backed foliage. it is however generally grown for its attractive deep red, pea-shaped flowers that appear throughout winter and springtime.
It has a short lifespan for a shrub of 5 - 8 years and is best planted in groups.
the very attractive flowers produce nectar that attracts honey-eating birds and it tolerates moderate frosts.
