Banksia ericifolia is a vigorous, branching, evergreen, Australian native shrub with glossy, deep green, spiky foliage.
It produces upright bottlebrush, orange spikes up to 25cms long which attract nectar-feeding birds.
This attractive shrub is popular in domestic gardens thanks to its on-going colour of the spectacular tall golden cones that almost glow when the sunlight catches them.
It can get a little straggly if left un-pruned, especially in the middle where die-back can become unattractive, but regular tip pruning will keep it bushy.
It also prefers full sun all day long and therefore grows thicker with more light.
