Murraya paniculata or Orange Jessamine is a very popular shrub in general cultivation.
It is a compact shrub with very attractive, shiny mid to deep green, aromatic leaves which make a splendid feature or an even better dense hedge.
Then, in spring and through most of summer they produce an abundance of fragrant, creamy/white flowers in tight clusters at branch tips that have a strong, orange blossom-like scent. Flowers may appear at other times after heavy rains.
Bees love the flowers which in turn mature to small, oval, red berry fruit loved by birds.
Best use is as a dense hedge, though they also make handsome features when kept clipped.
These are very long lived hardy plants, tolerating full sun to part shade, coastal conditions, and moderate droughts.
