Banksia robur is an evergreen, low branching shrub with large leaves with serrated edges that grow in rosettes.
The leaves are mid green on top and a paler, flannel texture beneath: they are quite large, reaching up to 40cms in length and 12cms in width and they make a dramatic effect when spread out in a rosette.
The flowers are produced in autumn and winter starting a bluey green colour that changes to be more yellowy green as they open. They will persist on the plant as they go brown for many months, sometimes years.
Banksia robur is a striking and attractive plant, well suited to larger gardens and parklands where it is possible to observe from a distance and enjoy its distinctive outline.
Good bird attractor and good for that difficult-to-fill, boggy part of the garden.
