Arrhhh.... fruit fly in my tomato plants can you help me stop it this year!!... is there any natural ways to stop this?.. what are the best and safest chemical way??...thank you
Hey there (Me), there is a very effective and totally organic way to deal with fruit fly . .and that's to make some small cloth (or mesh) bags with draw string necks to cover the fruit trusses with. You don't have to worry about the fruit ripening as this happens systemically, not necessarily from sun hitting the skin of the fruit.
I can confirm that this works perfectly as I have practiced it for two years now and harvested perfect fruit everytime, while previously i was always spraying something or other and still getting damaged fruits.
This trick also works for fruit picked when green and placed on the windowsill to ripen as its very common for flies to get indoors and ruin crops too. Just place them in a cloth (or mesh) bag and they will ripen perfectly.
Alternatively we have some ready made in our Garden Shop - the small ones 35cm x 50cm would be the way to go.
