Hello,
I have some seeds for the very fragrant tobacco flower. I also have an inquisitive puppy.
Can both co-habit in my front yard? I have been told tobacco flower is poisonous, but is it poisonous for dogs? Will it just make them vomit a bit, or is it deadly?
Hey Teresa, many plants in backyard gardens are potentailly poisonous not only to dogs but also to people.
The Nicotiana alata or Flowering Tobacco is no different. It is a lovely and fragrant plant that could well cause a problem to your puppy. And younger animals will always be more affected than older ones.
At the end of the day you have to weigh up whether or not you wish to take that risk, or is there an alternative to this plant that could bring as much pleasure?
