i have an Agonis tree that has been in ground for 2 years and always been healthy. Recently its leaves have gone very dry and curled. cant see any pests or fungus on them. Tree is watered quite regularly and the ground seems very moist. has in ground ag pipe for watering. I did about 8 months ago re-stake the tree about 200mm from trunk which i didint think would cause any issues. Any advice would be great.
Have you changed the watering conditions this year? It sounds like the soil is too wet.
Agonis like well drained soil, too much moisture and they are prone to root rot. With all plants that are susceptible to root rot it is best to allow the soil to dry out between waterings. The finger test is the most useful indication of soil moisture. Put a finger into the soil and if the soil feels moist wait a few days and try again. Water once the soil feels dry to the depth of your finger.
