Hi there , I bought this lemon tree a year ago , re-pot it , gave fertilizer 3/4 months apart but is getting worst by the day. Didn't make new leaves in months but some lemons trying to grow.
I water it regularly . Any help appreciated.
Thanks
Alex
Hey MT99, this could be caused by many different reasons. First of all I'd look at drainage. Lemons demand perfect drainage - wet feet means big problems. I'd suggest re-potting it with a well draining mix of potting mix and perlite which will encourage some air around the roots to - and add some crocks at the bottom of the pot to make sure that the drain hole doesn't get blocked. Then water it in with a Seaweed tonic - this isn't a fertiliser but it will help smooth out transplant shock and good bugs in the kelp extract will help release the nutrients from the soil. Although you have fertilised it regularly, those nutrients may remain locked up in the soil - it's the bacteria that release them. Finally check when you re-plant that there were not any curl grubs in the pot - these often get introduced in added compost and will silently munch away on the plant roots minimising its ability to grow. And a note on watering, lemons like long deep waterings but not too often, let the soil dry out a bit in between waterings.
