Hey Linda, with ideal temperature range being 10c to 26c I'd suggest keeping it indoors, especially in winter in Canberra (way too cold). But spells outdoors in summer will do it good providing you keep it in bright but indirect light or dappled shade. N.B. too much shade or lack of light will mean they have less chance of blooming.
Where ever it is ensure it enjoys some humidity and if the air is dry then mist it regularly.
Ensure it is watered regularly and does not dry out between waterings - around once a week during growing periods and less in winter.
Zygopetalum orchids should be fertilised every other watering when the orchid is in active growth with a half-strength solution. In winter one fertilising a month will be sufficient.
Re-pot them once every couple of years or when the potting medium becomes soggy and doesn't drain easily - use a mix of bark, coconut chips and some Perlite.
