My father has accidentally sprayed his lawn with path weedkiller. The grass has died but what does he do now. Does he turn the turf over and reseed the lawn now or will the weedkiller still be present in the ground. Does he need to turn the soil over at all, could he reseed on top of the old grass?
Thanks for any help.
Well Eleanor, that was a big mistake as path weeders tend to sterilise the soil as well as kill the weeds.
They often have a residual effect for about one year so I suggest that turning or even removing the top soil may prove to be an incomplete solution.
May I suggest that gravel may make a good alternative for a while. If its a big area then try a couple of different colours/sizes and spread them into patterns.
Its a very Japanese, Zen sort of look that goes surprisingly well with all styles of garden - from the Aussie native bush garden to the classic English cottage garden.
What exact chemical did he use? If it was glyphosate there isn’t a residual
