Can anyone give me advice on how and when I should prune climbing roses? This photo isn't of my rose (its actually in the Botanic Gardens in Hobart) but its very similar.
Angela, always prune roses, whatever type, in winter when they are dormant. You can cut them back quite strongly if you like - roses will appreciate a good hard pruning every few years, it helps them produce new and healthy growth afterwards.
N.B. You may have noticed that you can buy roses with bare roots in the winter, thats because they are dormant.
