I have stored garlic bulbs in the fridge and now they have green shoots about 2-3 cm long. What is the best to do when I want to plant them in my garden?
The bulbs will be fine but you will need to take care not to break the shoots when you plant the bulbs. You want to plant them between 3 to 6 cms into the ground with the shoots pointing upwards, then gently push the soil around the shoots to hold the bulbs in place. Plant the bulbs about 10cm apart. it doesn't matter if the shoots are already showing. Garlic bulbs grow best in fertile well drained ground, too much moisture in the soil and the bulbs will rot.
