HI There, I hope someone can help me?
I have a special, large Deodar Tree which is about 70 years old.
At the beginning of Spring is shed most of its needles.
Now it has new growth which also appears to be dying.
We living in Central West NSW and have experienced 3 years of drought.
Any suggestions would be fantastic!
Thanks, Susie
Trees will lose their leaves when stressed. Deodar cedar have deep roots but long droughts will take their toll. Hopefully your land has been benefiting from the drenching rains we have been experiencing this spring. In times of drought, if you are able and understand this is not always possible, it is best to give the trees a long deep watering several times during the summer.
Water slowly with a drip irrigation hose around the tree's own drip line at the edge of the canopy. Leave the water on over night so it is absorbed by the soil and water loss by evapouration is minimised
