Hi there
I'm wanting to remove the raised garden bed from around my camellia tree. It's a very old tree and I’m not sure if was planted before or after the garden bed was installed. There are a lot of roots coming from the tree trunk that I would need to remove to bring it back to ground level. Does anyone know if I could safely remove or prune back any of the roots in the below picture?
Hmm, Its never good to cut through thick roots as they will often feed so many other smaller or thinner roots. You'd have to try to ascertain what percentage of the roots you'd be cutting away. My recommendation is to not remove more than 25% of the total.
