A hardy, evergreen shrub with narrow green leaves (needle like) and striking erect cone flowers that are produced in winter and are attractive to birds.
They have a rather sprawling habit but remain compact making them very useful landscaping plants in native gardens.
Its dense habit makes for a very good screen or hedge and as they like some shade they go well under taller trees like Eucalypts.
It develops a woody underground rootstock that will sprout freely after fires.
