Feijoa sellowiana is a dense and bushy, evergreen shrub.
It dull green elliptical to oblong leaves with prominent lateral veins.
In springtime the trees is covered with lots of flowers with pinky-white, shell-like petals and prominent red stamen.
It can be grown as a single-trunked small tree or trained as espalier along wires, or clipped as a hedge or rounded shrub.
The elongated, tough skinned berry fruit have a tangy pineapple scent, the flesh is yellow with a gritty texture. They can be eaten raw or made into delicious jams.
Can be used as windbreaks, screens, hedges or small garden ornamental trees.
They will tolerate 2nd line salt so are popular in coastal areas.
