A clump forming perennial plant with thick, grass-like foliage and pretty white to pink pincushion type flowers that are held aloft on erect stalks.
They are hardy though have a very dainty appearance, making good colour splashes in rockeries, but are also very good in borders. Flowers are produced in profusion throughout spring and summer and come in a wide variety of colours.
The common name, Thrift, refers to their ability to thrive under any circumstance, so they are a very handy plants to be able to fill a wide variety of garden locations and environments - especially the more demanding coastal areas.
Excellent for cottage gardens and they also make good cut blooms too.
