Clethra arborea or Lily of the Valley tree is an attractive, dense, evergreen tree with lusterously glossy, eliptical foliage that is coppery when young.
The attractive foliage provides a perfect backdrop for the racemes of bell-shaped, waxy, white flowers that are similar in look to Lily of the Valley and held aloft on stalks. When in full bloom this small, broadleaved tree makes a spectacular sight.
Originating from Madeira, they are best suited to cultivate in mild and warmer climates.
Goes well with azaleas and prefers some shade throughout the day in hotter climates.
