Liriope spicata is a tufted, mat-forming perennial that spreads by rhizomes.
The leaves are green and grass-like and have tiny serrations along the margins.
In summer, spikes of pale lilac, bell-shaped flowers are borne on erect brown/violet stems.
This is an excellent border or groundcover plant that works in much the same way as Mondo Grass. It thrives in shaded, moist sites, so take advantage of this feature to fill those difficult positions.
