Artemisia dracunculus is a perennial, aromatic culinary herb generally known as Tarragon.
It has slender branched stems bearing long, narrow, lanceolate leaves around 6-8cms long and around 5mm wide which are mid green in colour.
Some will produce small florets of multiple greenish-yellow flowers, while others are sterile - with propagation via the rhizomatous roots.
Russian Tarragon is very hardy but not as flavoursome as French Tarragon which has a fragrance that is a mix of pepper and anise.
It is a favourite of French chefs in particular for chicken, fish and egg dishes (Bearnaise sauce being one of the most well known).
It will reach its ultimate height after 2-3 years and is good for cottage style gardens and other informal designs.
