Abies pinsapo ‘Glauca’ or the Blue Spanish Fir is a slow growing evergreen tree with a broadly conical shape.
The needles of this tree are quite short and rigid with a bluish colour. Both seed and pollen cones grow on the same tree. In spring small purple pollen cones can be seen at the tips of the lower branches. The seed cones grow towards the top of the tree and become more obvious as they ripen and turn brown.
To appreciate the shape of this tree it needs to be planted with lots of space singularly as a feature or as part of group of conifers.
