Ageratum houstonianum or the Floss Flower is a pretty, annual bedding plant that grows in clumps or mounds.
It has hairy, rough, oval shaped leaves with serrated edges and produces distinctive, fluffy flowerheads that are made up of fine filaments and bloom all summer long.
Best as a border plant, they come in pinks, whites and predominantly blue/mauves, these low growing beauties will make an excellent edge for paths and driveways.
They are also one of the few annual bedding plants that can tolerate equal amounts of sun and shade.
Ageratum 'Blue Mink' is a favourite hybrid and easy to grow from seed.
And Ageratum 'Blue Blazer' is a low grower (15cms) with soft and fluffy blooms.
