Macadamia tetraphylla is a large Native rainforest tree with an broad canopy.
It is bushy in full sun but in highly competitive rainforest conditons tends to be tall with less foliage at it grows towards the light.
The leaves are oblanceolate with a serrated margin, dark green and glossy when mature, pink to purple when young. The leaves grows in whorls of between 3-5 around the branchlets.
In spring tree bares long drooping racemes of pink to purple flowers. These then turn to edible nuts that take up to 9 months to mature.
It may take 4-5 years to flower and is not frost hardy.
