Stenocarpus sinuatus is a slow growing, evergreen, rain-forest tree with a single trunk and upright branches.
It has large, wavy edged, leathery, dark green, glossy leaves and fantastic bright red and orange, cartwheel flowers with yellow tips that grow straight off the wood.
When young, the plant will require a certain amount of shade, but as the tree matures it grow best in full sun.
It makes a fabulous specimen tree if allowed to grow to its full size and shape.
Pruning will destroy its shape, so don't plant in area where the tree will need to be topped.
It will also need a sheltered location as they do not like lots of strong winds.
