Leucojum vernum or the Spring Snowflake is a clump forming soft wooded perennial.
It has delicate little spring flowering perennial bulb with strap-like foliage and pretty bell shaped white flowers that nod on the end of a 30cm high stalk.
The bell shaped flowers are held aloft on 20-30cm long stalks, they have six petals each with a small green or spot on it.
Their natural habitat is damp woodlands, so choose a location that is similar in characteristics. The look best as mass or drift planting in woodlands or lawn areas.
It is frost hardy and an good source of early season nectar and pollen for bees and will cheer up humans who have got tired of long winters.
