Melaleuca thymifolia, or the Thyme-leaved Honey Myrtle is a fast growing, bushy and low shrub.
It has small, erect, blue green leaves that are fragrant when crushed.
It bears showy, light purple flowers consisting of curled stamen from late spring to autumn. There are several white and pink varieties.
Because it likes damp conditions it goes well around ponds or other moist places but otherwise makes a great addition to any garden to attract birds, bees and beneficial insects.
